As part of our ‘Giving Back’ program during January and into February, TurnKey Promotions has donated 200 Rapid Antigen Tests (RATs) to StreetWork. TurnKey Promotion sets aside a portion of their sales every month so that they can give back to the beautiful community through the incredible efforts of the team at StreetWork.
StreetWork's purpose is to support vulnerable young people aged 11 – 18 to turn their lives around. Teenage years can be difficult and confusing and the youth referred to StreetWork struggle with mental health (often suicidal thoughts and self-harm), social isolation, substance misuse, school disengagement, youth crime, sleeping rough, and homelessness.
To break the cycle of these destructive behaviours, StreetWork matches vulnerable young people with their own trained and experienced youth case worker, who supports them to set goals to address the behaviours that place them at risk and connect with the specialist youth services that can help them achieve those goals.
COVID has really impacted the work that StreetWork does, as referrals to their early intervention and prevention programs have increased by 35% and they now have a wait list that is growing – fast. At the same time, the cancellation of their in-person fundraising events over the past 2 years, has left them with a revenue gap of over $400,000.
Because it’s more important than ever for the young people to continue to connect face-to-face with their case workers, the RATs will help StreetWork continue to work with vulnerable young people without risk or having to use precious fundraising money. The RATs will also assist the vulnerable young people to continue to participate in community activities safely and with confidence.
With StreetWork's Social Return on Investment (SROI), every $1 invested is a $16 return to the community, which means this donation delivers nearly $50,000 of community benefit.
